West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. today announced the operational renewal of its Dudley Timber Plant in Georgia and the Oriented Strand Board (OSB) Plant in Chambord, Quebec, and submitted a preliminary small basic shelf prospectus. West Fraser further announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Norbord Inc. has applied to cease to be a Canadian report issuer.

The progress of the company's new timber manufacturing complex in Dudley is still in line with management's initial expectations. A large part of the new plant is being put into production and construction is accelerating. The new plant is expected to be fully operational by the end of the second quarter of 2021. The operation of the old factory will end at the end of the second quarter. After completion and full production, the annual production capacity of the site will increase by 170 million board feet to 270 million board feet, which is expected to be realized in the next few years. The Dudley site is the company's second complete site modernization in the southern United States since 2017.

The company's OSB mill in Chambord has completed commissioning and is currently producing panels and shipping them to customers. The company expects to obtain APA-The Engineered Wood Association certification for the OSB level of Chambord products in the next few weeks. The Chambord plant has begun to increase its annual production capacity of 550 million square feet (3/8-inch basis), which usually takes 18-24 months. After a large amount of reinvestment and a strong available labor force and promised wood supply in the region, once fully launched, the Chambord plant is expected to become one of the company's lowest cost OSB businesses.

"Dudley and Chambord's teams have been working safely and diligently to modernize these two operations, and Chambord is now ready to help us meet the needs of OSB customers in a timely manner during the critical spring construction season," West Fraser President and Chief Executive Officer Officer Ray Ferris said.
