On the gigantic site of Swiss Krono France, in Sully-sur-Loire (Loiret), the first construction machines are at work.Within two years, the factory, the only one in France to manufacture OSB, ultra-resistant wood panels used in construction, will be reconfigured to produce greener. Thanks to an investment of more than 100 million euros supported by the recovery plan, this site will be equipped with new low-temperature dryers and a 63 MW boiler that will burn bark and dust from production.Biomass will almost entirely replace gas, which currently represents 40% of the energy mix for OSB production.A godsend in the current context of soaring prices. The project will also save 35,000 tonnes of CO2 and reduce the site's energy needs by 5 to 10%."It's an exemplary installation that ticks all the boxes," welcomed EDF CEO Jean-Bernard Levy, who made the trip during the official launch of the project on September 9th.To carry out the operation, Swiss Krono, which employs 400 people in Sully-sur-Loire, joined forces with two partners, Meridiam, which provides part of the financing, and Dalkia, a subsidiary of EDF, which will operate this custom-designed boiler. The deployment of this new equipment will also enable this plant to boost its OSB production and benefit from the dynamism of wood construction."We are going to progress by 35%, welcomed Vincent Adam, president of Swiss Krono France, and we will be able to support the new RE2020 thermal regulations, which give pride of place to biosourced materials".Benefit from the advantages of the digital offer
