By 2024, the French subsidiary of the manufacturer of wooden structures Swiss Krono, based in Sully-sur-Loire in Loiret, will undergo the most profound industrial reorganization since its creation in 1988. The company, which employs 400 employees and has 200 million euros in turnover in 2021, specializes in chipboard panels, known as OSB (Oriented Strand Board).Officially launched in early September, the operational phase of its Green Energy plan, intended to ensure the site's energy transition, comprises two parts. The first will involve replacing two of the plant's energy-intensive wood dryers with low-temperature equivalents.Secondly, Swiss Krono will acquire a huge 63 MW biomass unit which will produce the energy needed for its production lines. The plant, whose construction by Dalkia has started, will itself be supplied by wood chips and waste. The fumes produced by the factory will also be recovered and reused thanks to a condenser. This new process will enable Swiss Krono to reduce its energy consumption by 5% to 10% thanks to new low-temperature dryers. They will also improve the company's productivity by 35% thanks to the time saved. Finally, the biomass unit will limit the Loiret site's gas consumption by approximately 85%.In addition to the savings achieved, Swiss Krono thus claims an annual reduction of 35,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. To carry out such an ambitious project, Swiss Krono called on Dalkia, a subsidiary of EDF, to build the bio-mass plant.A sign of the importance that the project also has for the electrician, its CEO Jean Bernard Lévy was present on September 9 at the Sully-sur-Loire site to inaugurate the site.Via Dalkia, EDF has indeed embarked on an all-out diversification in consulting and the development of renewable energies. The financial amount of the operation, 120 million euros, prompted Swiss Krono to rely on Meridiam.Thierry Deau's investment fund (formerly Egis) specializes in the development, financing and management of sustainable public infrastructure. The State, through the ecological transition agency (Ademe), will contribute 15 million euros to the Swiss Krono energy project.11 million euros of public funds will be allocated to the biomass unit and 3.8 million euros will make it possible to reduce the purchase invoice for the two dryers.Read also In the Loire, in Noirétable and Balbigny, the ultimate in wooden constructionThe entry into force since the beginning of the year of the RE2020 environmental regulation, which favors bio-sourced materials in the construction sector, has caused a significant increase in demand for OSB panels. Thanks to new, faster and more efficient dryers, the group anticipates a 30% increase in its production capacity by 2027.From 420,000 m3 currently produced, the CEO of Swiss Krono France Vincent Adam plans to climb to 500,000 m3 within five years. At the end of the day, revenues increased to nearly 300 million euros. The workforce will in principle be increased at the same time on the Loiretain site. While most construction experts agree that the share of wood in construction (11% in 2022) could double in France by 2030, economic projections lead Swiss Krono to optimism.Backed by its powerful parent company (1.8 billion euros in revenue in 2019, 10 sites and 5,000 employees worldwide), the Sully-sur-Loire unit will jointly invest in a complete modernization of its industrial tool with a objective 4.0 within five years.Read also Ty Cocoon, these little wooden houses that want to keep seniors independent for longerAt 1 p.m. every Thursday, receive the essential news on ecological transitionsLast step: confirm your registration in the email you have just received.Remember to check your junk mail.See you very soon on the La Tribune website and in our newsletters, La Tribune editorial staff.See you very soon on the La Tribune website and in our newsletters, La Tribune editorial staff.Discover all of La Tribune's newsletters The editorial staff of La TribuneAn email containing your login information has been sent.See you very soon on the La Tribune website and in our newsletters, La Tribune editorial staff.Subscribe to the Ecological Transitions newsletterRussian planes land a few tens of kilometers from the American coastNord Stream: French CEA researchers puzzled by the "low" volume of gas escaping into the atmosphereEnergy sobriety: the first failures in Europe give cold sweats for the winterRussian gas: France pays for its mistakes of the pastFrance to supply Bastion armored vehicles (Arquus) to UkraineFrance will supply Bastion armored vehicles (Arquus) to Ukraine (30)Fuel shortages spread as refinery strikes continue (24)Pensions: why special schemes could fall by the wayside of the reform (24)After two five-year terms, Emmanuel Macron's "2032 objective" (23)Soaring dollar: this is the problem for Europeans (23)Your email will not be displayed publicly. All fields are mandatory. There are currently no comments for this article.Be the first to give your opinion!Thank you for your comment. It will be visible soon subject to validation. With La Tribune.fr, make the right decisions
